UX research and design for a mobile application. Gather client and user requirements, conduct competitive analysis of similar solutions and prepare storyboards. Synthesise research into actionable insights, develop user flows, information architecture. Develop a prototype, brief UI designers and developers, take into consideration technical limitations. Create an interactive prototype, present concepts and ideas to clients.

GECCO is a research and implementation mobile application project. It will be connected to a crisis management system. Emergency information will be available to the users via Android and iOS applications to warn about risks and official alerts relevant to their location (e.g. flood risk, forest fires, and hoarfrost).
I performed analysis of similar and competitive solution finding best practises, good examples and things to avoid. I also found several design inspirations among existing solutions.
I made a list of essential vocabulary that I heard or read during conversations with stakeholder and research phase. I picked up most common words and phrases to deliver the best intelligibility by future users.
I created four simple personas to represent major groups of potential users. They gave a clear picture of the user's expectations and how they are likely to use the developed application.
I prepared several storyboards which demonstrate the process that the user will go through when using a mobile app. It was very helpful in recognizing potential use cases.
I also prepared several user scenarios with a description of a persona using a product to achieve a specific goal. They describe usage of app in real life context
Based on stakeholder requirements, defined vision and UX research described above I determined 6 essential functions of developed application.
After I had discussed some initial sketches with stakeholder, I prepared draft of information architecture which was basis for UI design
I prepared a quick wireframe in Axure RP to show idea and get an opinion from the stakeholder.
After several improvements session, I started to build an interactive prototype to better present interactivity of solution for web and mobile viewers.
I prepared mobile-friendly interactive prototype. This prototype gave decision-makers good view how this application would work and look like.
I provided support to the development team by verifying technical limitations for Android, iOS and Windows Phone. I have also prepared several versions of the interactive prototype to illustrate better different scenarios.
